How to read the numbers

What an inflow means

New shares were created. The fund took in cash and bought ETH. That ETH left the open market and sat with a custodian.

What an outflow means

Shares were redeemed. The fund sold or delivered ETH. That ETH can move back toward the open market.

Why the flow numbers lag

Funds report after the US market closes. This page shows the last reported day. The ETH price above updates in real time, but flows do not, since no free live feed exists for them yet.

What moves ETF flows

  • Price trend. A strong ETH run tends to pull in more buyers.
  • Interest rates. Lower rates often push investors toward assets like crypto.
  • Bitcoin flows. ETH ETFs often follow the same direction as Bitcoin ETFs, a step behind.
  • Fund fees. Lower fee funds like ETHA tend to draw steadier inflows than older, pricier funds.
  • Staking yield. Funds that pass through staking rewards can draw extra long term demand.

Ethereum ETF flow FAQs

What is a spot Ethereum ETF?

A spot Ethereum ETF is a fund that holds real ETH. You buy shares through a normal stock account. A custodian holds the coins, so you never need a crypto wallet.

What does a net inflow mean?

A net inflow means more money came into the funds than left them that day. The funds had to buy more ETH to back the new shares.

What does a net outflow mean?

A net outflow means investors sold more fund shares than they bought that day. The fund may have sold some ETH to cover it.

Which Ethereum ETF is the biggest?

BlackRock's ETHA is the biggest US spot Ethereum ETF by net flow since the funds launched in July 2024.

Do any Ethereum ETFs pay staking rewards?

Yes. BlackRock's ETHB and Grayscale's ETHE and ETH stake part of their holdings and pass rewards to investors. Other issuers are waiting on approval to do the same.

Does an ETF inflow mean the ETH price will rise?

Not on its own. An inflow shows demand for the funds that day. Price also depends on the wider market, so the two do not always move together.

How often do ETF flow numbers update?

Once a day, after the US market closes. Weekends and US market holidays have no new row.
